USB stick will not boot

Recommended Posts

I have used TransMac on a new Sanddisk USB stick  to "Format Disk to Mac" and "Restore with Disk image" according to the instructions provided. However, the USB stick will not boot, not under UEFI and also when I enable both legacy and usb boot. The question is if the Big Sur dmg is bootable per se.

The other issue is that when I click properties in TransMac, it says that there is an MBR partition in adition to the apple one. I am not sure if that is correct. Any suggestions are welcome.

I am on Win 10 64 bit, ryzen 5 2600, b450 mobo and rx570 graphics card.

I reformatted the usb stick in windows and enabled gpt via fdisk. I then formated and restored the big sur dmg using transmac as before. Booting the stick still does not work. Do I have to copy a custom EFI file to the thumb drive in order for it to boot?
